WebCT’s days are numbered. Are you prepared to use Canvas? Come to this week’s training: Wednesday December 5th, 5-6pm in Walker 638. Register at: http://bit.ly/Ug2NnB
Are you having trouble uploading files to WebCT?
Here at ITG we’ve been running into incidents where students’ Macs are blocking the certificate required to use WebCT’s Java component. A box will appear to allow a Java applet to be used, but the “Allow” button is greyed out. What in the what?!
Luckily, the workaround is quick. It looks intimidating, but we’ll walk you through it.
First, when prompted with:
Click on the “Show Details…” button. This brings up:
You’ll notice in the above screen shot that the “Always Trust Blackboard, Inc.” box has been checked. This is super important to do. Basically, we’re telling the Mac that we can vouch for WebCT (as much as anyone can vouch for WebCT).
Click “Continue” and you’ll be prompted with the following:
This is your password for your Mac. Click “Update Settings”.
Final Step!
Check off the “Allow all applets from “phoenix.emerson.edu” with this signature” and click the “Allow” button.
You’ll now be able to use the Java component of WebCT for the rest of the semester.

You will be able to view the WebCT courses then. If there are courses missing, don’t panic! You may be on Canvas! Your professor will be emailing you with more details.
